Each emirate sets its own theory test. Many sites repeat outdated or conflicting figures, so here is only what the authorities publish, with links.
| Emirate | Questions | Time | Pass mark | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dubai | 40 | Not published | 30 correct | RTA |
| Sharjah | 25 | 20 minutes | 18 correct | Sharjah Driving Institute |
| Abu Dhabi | Not published | Not published | Not published | — |
Dubai
RTA's test-booking page states: "There are 40 questions in the Knowledge Test, and you must have a minimum of 30 correct answers to pass it." RTA doesn't publish the time limit. You choose the test language when booking, and remote interpretation is available for a fee. → Dubai test details and mock test
Sharjah
The Sharjah Driving Institute states that the exam has 25 questions, needs 18 correct answers, and lasts 20 minutes, in Arabic, English or Urdu. Candidates who can't read can hear the questions. The same format applies to motorcycles. → Sharjah test details and mock test
Abu Dhabi
No Abu Dhabi authority page we can find publishes the theory test format, and third-party sites disagree (35 or 45 questions, with different pass marks). Our Abu Dhabi mock test is marked not yet verified until we can confirm it. → Abu Dhabi details and mock test
